I had an SL 15 Mk II back in the 1970's and loved it. Ortofon recommended their own STM-72 transformer, but I got MUCH better sound using a Supex SDT-77 transformer. I stll remember the demo at my dealer, Stereo Emporium in Buffalo NY. I sat there with my future ex-wife and she said "get the better one" (the Supex). She didn't have to tell me twice.

UPS lost the cartridge when it was shipped to Ortofon for a re-tip. Too bad too, because it would have been a great match with my Quads.

I've still got that Supex transformer around here somewhere. Thanks for reminding me! I need to look for that.
