Clearaudio cantilever question.

I just received a new Clearaudio Aurum Woods Classic and I'm a bit concerned about the flex in the cantilever. When cueing down, the cantilever shows the normal flex but comes to a complete halt in flex. The arm them bounces a slight bit. To me, the flex should continue as the arm is lowered(body of cart is not close to the vinyl). VTF is correct (double-checked) at 2gr.-2.2gr. Table is also new. Now, the sound of this cart is very good. But, I've experienced it being stuck in the groove (last track) on a few albums. May I have a suspension wire broken? Without complete flex in the cantilever, I'm a bit concerned if this can damage my vinyl. Thanks for any advice.
