I don't see the problem or rather can't see a possible solution with a change of the phonostage. If I understand you correctly you are using a 37dB step-up into a 35dB RIAA section of the Classe preamp which goes out via the tape out to a 6dB gain linestage. And you don't have enough gain?Are you sure the step-up is 37dB or 37 times, i.e. 1:37. 37dB step-up is a 1:70 ratio.
