Re: Load Benz Micro M0.9 MC cartridge

HI Emili - I didn't want you to think we were all ignoring your post. I believe you will want to use the lower gain setting on the Rowland because of the relatively high output of the Benz. The higher gain setting(60-61 db) is really for lower output MC cartridges. If you do go with the higher gain setting with theis Benz you risk overloading the phono stage of the Rowland (not destructive to the Rowland but sounds poor).

Now as to load character - this is almost a trial and error process. There formulae that can be applied to give you a "textbook" load (I do not know where I put my old reference manuals to be able to give some help here - Werner would probably be of more assistance in this arena). No matter what the textbook says - you may have a different preference. Changing the load on the Rowland is fortunately easy to do.

Isn't the Rowland a great preamp - not at all hard and bright like the vast majority of SS preamps. I own an old Coherence One Series II - that I switch in my main system once in awhile. Best Bass I have ever heard - regardless of cost - nothing has even been close (I just wish it had some of that "tube magic in the mids). Thats is the only thing that keeps me from giving up my old ARC SP-10.

Cheers.
