While it's true that CDs do not have LP noises (pops etc.), some of the worst classical recordings I have are on CD. Problems like high noise floor, dynamic compression, and (for shame!) clipping, I've heard on some CDs (analog masters). I think that (well done) LPs are better in almost all respects than CDs. Perhaps try EMI or Phillips LPs.
