woofer pumping wow

Again I;m fairly new to vinyl. I notice that my woofers pump in and out. Is this because my phono stage does not have an rumble filter( are rumble filters bad for sound quality?)? Will this pumping what ever the heck it is hurt my speakers. They are acoustic suspension not ported if that makes any difference.
