Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

The best laft hand in the business!

Few pianists of any genre could do what Shirley does with his left hand...he's still alive and teaching as far as I know, I believe in Indiana.

Casual listening seems to reveal him as "easy-listening Jazz" until you listen to that left hand technique! There are bass lines that he plays that are more complex than much of anything else you have ever heard! I have a lot of his stuff...get it all and if you don't like it, I'll buy it from you!!!

The early stuff on Cadence is on some very fragile vinyl...I was sliding an LP into an inner sleeve and holding it on one side and the LP cracked!!! Wahhh! Needless to say, I'd like to replace it (I can't recall the title right now, I have to check the stacks against my spread sheet).

Also available on Audio Fidelity and Columbia...what I own:
1432. Shirley, Don “Concert Series, Vol. 1” Pick-a-Dilly PIC3428
1433. Shirley, Don “…Presents Martha Flowers” CLP3055
1434. Shirley, Don “…” Audio Fidelity AFSD5897

1444. Shirley, Don “…Solos” Cadence CLP3007

Water Boy is listed on TAS's LP list of great sounding LP's, but is actually a reissue of Audio Fidelity AFSD5897 which sounds very good, too!
