Okay, it is a snapshot kind of statistic, but vinyl sales have increased by 100% over last year and outsold downloads as the holiday giving season approaches.

Apparently, at least some of the sales are intended as gifts, as 48% of the purchasers said that they haven't actually played the LPs and 7% don't even own a turntable. Still, given the convenience of downloads and the fanatical obsessive fascination with hi rez downloads, it's apparent that vinyl is still competitive. And this would be new vinyl sales, not online or used shop purchases of older LPs.
