I have a SME V tonearm which I got s/hand, with the set up tools but without the mounting template or metal jig, which I want to install on a new motor board for my Garrard 401. I have an original mounting template for the 3009 series II (non-improved) and wonder if I can use the cutout template from this to make the correct size and shape hole, but use it somehow whilst altering the pivot to spindle distance for correct installation of the series V? I know it is possible to purchase a replacement series V mounting template but that will take a few days to acquire (and obviously cost money too) and I want to get on with the install asap.
Any suggestions as to whether its possible, and how?
