Hi Softridgeguy,I'll add a bit to this. At one time the NE 2 was as common as dirt and they are still one of the most available neon indicator bulbs. Their main use was for indicator bulbs and most are very low current and power. Neon turntable strobes were typically a good bit more powerful than NE 2s. That said there were variants of the NE 2, some with more power. I'm guessing that your turntable used one of those. The typical NE 2 is rated at ~0.6 mA. The current is set by a ballast resistor.
Ideally you should cross the number which you have with part numbers of bulbs which are now available.
Other approaches are:
1. Look at your circuit and calculate the average current in the NE 2. If it is ~ 0.6 mA. you are good with the typical NE 2.
2. Change the ballast resistor to conform to the bulb which you do buy and hope for sufficient brightness.
3. Chose one of the higher current NE 2s from the data sheet which I linked.
4. Just regard the standard NE 2s as consumable (they are cheap enough) and buy a bag of them.
5. There is an outfit in the UK which makes an LED conversion kit for many turntables to put an end to this aggravation. Maybe they have something for your machine. The name is KeyStrobe I believe.
