I can buy it at four independently owned, nice, small stores within a 20 minute walk of here.
I can special order it at the same shops.
I can buy quality used vinyl (and some dirt cheap used CDs) at those same stores.
Buying new vinyl is EASY and using it to stock a 20,000+ square foot space is expensive
and makes little business sense. Mostly though vinyl is the only new product that now sells.
Amoeba had set up to sell used CDs (once VERY profitable) by the pound; then DVDs.
They never developed a system to source consistent, decent used LPs that would provide
enough profit to support all that space.
Maybe renting it out for dance lessons is the answer.
