Just counted my vinyl issues of Weill's music -- 34 in total, which include boxed sets. The early stereo Columbia recordings of Three Penny Opera and Happy End, plus the mono recording of Mahagony, all with his wife Lotte Lenya, are essential listening. As is the 78 rpm recording of the original Berlin cast of Three Penny Opera. I have multiple versions of this, including a 10-inch boxed reissue on Telefunken. Also included in my count are Weill's American musicals. Somehow the composer easily made the transition. He died much too early.
