I don't have other phono preamps to compare it with (except dedicated phono inputs in vintage Eico and Sansui amps), but I can tell you that the Budgie preamp with Mullard CV-4110 tubes revived my long-neglected Cary SLI-80 integrated - now it sounds so airy and sparkling that I cannot tear myself apart from it and don't want to listen to any other amps!

It's a very nice piece.
