I was in Billings, Montana earlier this week and had a chance to visit a couple records stores, thrift shops and an antique mall. Here are the finds:
From a thrift shop, a 78 RPM album consisting of (4) ten inch discs.
A James Brown 2x LP set. The discs were in "VRP" innersleeves and look unplayed.
The one record I bought at an antique mall, priced at $3. I rarely buy used records in less than NM condition. This was an exception. Visually VG with a few light scratches. I believe I can transfer to WAV and remove any clicks/pops for clean sounding files.
I'd never seen this LP before. Very clean vinyl and dirt cheap so it had to come home with me.
A new reissue on (two) LPs. Very nice, gave it a spin last night.
Bought it for the music...
I already have stereo copy of this excellent 1958 LP, but this Mono copy was pristine, had 1S/1S in the deadwax, and was dirt cheap.
I don't normally grab any Ferrante & Teicher LP I find as most are mundane EZ Listening. But, this 1988 (still sealed) LP is on the "Avant-Garde" label and cover notes refer to "prepared pianos." Should be a good one.
One of the worst album covers I've seen in a long time. But hey, it's Ella Fitgerald and the wax is pristine.
New, still sealed. It's a good one!
I found this new, still sealed gem in the clearance bin at Hastings for ten bucks. Who knows why, but hell yeah, it had to come home with me.
This new, still sealed 2009 release was marked "$10.99" at Hastings. 2x LP with large poster. Clearly a mis-priced goof up? But the clerk ran it up and my receipts shows "You saved "$13.99."
Tough finding older Jazz records in decent shape. This disc looks unplayed.
From a thrift, a still-sealed Christmas record. Couldn't resist, tis the season!
From the Montana Rescue Mission thrift on 24th street, four NM Petra LPs from the '80s. Petra is a Hard Rock Christian band.
I've been looking for a NM copy of this for ages and finally found one. Yeah, I know... Coronet label records even in new condition are not the best pressings. Still, it ought to be a fun LP.
These two LPs of African music were found at the Goodwill, pristine condition.
Another find from the Gooodwill, pristine NM wax. I gave it a spin, very nice LP.
