RE: Is the Alesis Masterlink still the gold standard for vinyl ripping ?

Dunno about "gold standard," and who would make that proclamation? Kinda like turntables, there's a helluva lot of good ones out there and it often comes down to personal preference and matching features to meet individual needs.

I have no experience with the Alesis Masterlink other than reading favorable comments about it. FWIW, I'm using both an Avid M-Box Pro and E-MU 0404 USB. Both produce excellent results while providing features such as gain controls and 48 Volt phantom power that are essential to my needs.

I'd also quibble about the term "vinyl ripping".... better described as vinyl transfers IMO.
