I have 2.5is and I've messed with biwiring. NHT doesn't realy believe in biwiring, they just throw on the extra binding posts to be competitive. Your 12 gauge will be plenty for the bass for now. I only use 10 gauge on my lower end. Don't spend any more money than you have to. I'd wait until you can make your DIY cables, no point spending more $$$ when it's not necessary. The 2.9s don't seem to care too much about the bass cable all too much anyway, the difference will be minimal. If you feel like messing around, you could put your MITs on the upper frequencies, and run two lengths of your 12 gauge for the bass, twisting it at the binding posts. that should be plenty of conductors;-)
