I don't know the absolutes, but a large bank of filter capacitors will cause a large surge of inrush current, possibly over stressing your bridge/rectifiers. You should add a thermistor to control the initial flow of inrush current. And maybe upgrade the rectifier diodes. I think that placing filter capacitors near the output transistors is a good idea. But I would make sure that all the capacitors were graded and matched first.
