5k49 resistor: tantalum vs vishay

62.42.63.20

i'm using a passive line level xover (between pre & amps) to drive
my maggies 1.6 directly from my amps; the high pass filter is this:

(xo point: 600hz): 5k49 in series, 4k53 in parallel, 2n2 in series

i recently replaced the 5k49 vishays s102 by 5k6 audio note tantalums,
1 w, with the following clear results —no "it seems...":

- more full-bodied sound, which is very nice in the highest highs
- deeper soundstage
- more cohesiveness & musicality
- more smoothness

so i've to conclude either that the tants are more transparent
than the vishays (at least for the mids and highs), or that there is a
special synergy between them & my 2n2 jensen copper foil/PIO caps

that said, this may be true just in my system, for my music and
to my taste and ears, as always

best, paco
