However, I can not recommend using his recipe. There are several things that could make for problems.

First, the drywall endcaps are not very rigid, nor would it lend itself to adding screw in hooks or other mounting means. The design of this bass trap, even with wood end caps, does not lend itself to being hung or positioned sideways, as the structural intergrity is very low, i.e., it could fall apart.

Second, the density of the fiberglass pipe insulation cylinders is not a given nor consistent from one manufacturer to another. Mr. Gale MAY have lucked out, and gotten a decent density that seems to work OK, but it is also quite likely that it is not optimum either.

If his density spec is correct, then this tube is on the overly dense side, which will raise the Q of the device, and make it absorb in a less linear manner.

The Guileford cloth is the same as used on the ASC devices, but what he doesn't mention is that it is quite expensive. Acoustically, it works well, but the combination of polyester batting, a limp plastic sheet for one halfside of the device cylinder, and a burlap covering work as well or better for a lot less. Speaker grille cloth can also be used, and is cheaper.
