Jon Risch (or anyone) - Questions. Re: DIY Panels; Since I need to special order…

either the R-25 8” thick faced fiberglass or the 705 fiberglass boards which recipe is more effective? My calculations from the Master Acoustics handbook, based upon my room size 13x27x7’9”, shows problems in the 80 hz range. My readings with the spl meter show about an 8 to 10dB peak at 80 hz as well as +10dB at 40 hz. I have read all of your site as well as the others who have completed the project. Keeping costs reasonable but not top concern I plan on constructing 2 pairs of 30” x 48” (absorption) panels as well as a pair of 15” x 8’ for the corners, will the original recipe R-19 + 1” 705 board be more effective than the recipe using just the 8” faced fiberglass? I was also maybe gluing the scrap 705 pieces triangularly to the back of the 15”x8’ corner panels, good idea?

Would I get anymore bass absorption with 1 ½” or 2” thick 705 panels? Also Owens Corning has a SelectSound Black Acoustic boards in 1” or 2” thick 4’x8’ sheets is this material any better?

Finally my Home Depot and Lowes carry Certianteed Fiberglass faced R-19 and R-30 is this the same material as the Owens Corning?

Thanks in advance for you time and reply,
Joe
