Hi JimAll of the clocks listed in this post use on-board regulation of some type, the LClock X03 uses 4 regulators.
One clock I forgot to mention was the Trichord Clock 4b, which I have also tested against LClock X03, TENTLABS X03 & SUPERCLOCK 3. The Trichord Clock 4b is behind the LClock X03, and is similar in performance to the TENTLABS X03 but sounds very different.
IMO, the Trichord Clock 3 used a better regulator based on the AD797, the 4b changed the op-amp to the AD825 and updated the transistor & logic buffer.
Here is the list again of the top ranking clocks;
SUPERCLOCK 3 = EXCELLENT
LCLOCK X03 = VERY GOOD
TRICHORD CLOCK 4b = GOOD/VERY GOOD
TENTLABS X03 = GOOD/VERY GOODWith the separate clock power supplies added the performance gap widens and changes. SUPERCLOCK 3 + SUPERCLOCK 3 PSU widens the performance gap between LCLOCK X03 & LClock PSU.
TRICHORD CLOCK 4b + NEVER CONNECTED PSU moves closer to LCLOCK X03 & LClock PSU, but the LCLOCK X03 combo is still preferred.
I have not tried the TENTLABS X03 with its dedicated PSU.
Enjoy :0)
