>>>BAT says not to use 6DJ8s.<<<

First of all why is this? As to my knowledge 6DJ8's are direct substitutes.

>>>Can you tell me which Amperex tubes are the best and how to diferentiate them?<<<

I can't answer the second half of your question because the first half of your question is subjective. As which are better is up to the person who is listening. Also I have never swapped tubes in a BAT.

I will tell you one secret about Amperex 6922's. The best Amperex 6922 and the best 6922 in my opinion is the Amperex 6922 with the "pinched" middle. You will know it if you see it. However it is very rare. So rare that as one person said, "People in china are offering me organs for a pair of these". Honestly, they are so rare that I used mine sparingly. Why? because I have that much respect for this particular tube. Though I have no use for them any more as only my SFCD-1 uses 6922 in the output stage. An output stage that doesn't really deserve nor requires such exotic tubes. Expect to pay around $60-75 for them used and over $100-150 each NOS! Oh, if you can find them.
