$900- for a pair of questionable Mullards ?? What's going on with prices
like that??
I guess it is inevitable with something that is finite and gets used up that they become scarce and thus more costly. There are kids active now, in the headphone arena, paying obscene prices for some of the better and truly best tubes around.
One of the more accessible tubes that I like is the somewhat pedestrian 6SN7. I thought I had a nice collection, but these kids were discussing B-65s(GEC/ Marconi Osram best 6SN7s ever made and very very rare) as if they were readily available, and no problem finding them, never mind affording them. I still don't have a single example.
While I think it's really great that a new generation of audio lovers is finally coalescing , it is a bit difficult to enjoy the instant snoberism that I find so commonly, easily and disturbing.
I have other beef's with some of them but I will allow restraint of pen and tongue to prevail.
