"Gold plated" will almost guarantee a cheesy socket with weak springs made in China unless you can find a Yamamoto. You are much better off with a USA made socket from the 1950s or 1960s. Search on Cinch, Amphenol, and Johnson on epay for high quality sockets. Note: an easy way to find the good ones is to specify "North America" on the left side under "Item Location."
