Have you removed/reinserted tubes a lot in the amp? If so, you may just need to re-tension the existing sockets. Use a steel dental pick or similar, and carefully bend the contacts in a little closer together. Obviously be sure the amp is unplugged from the AC outlet before you do this. It's also important to clean the contacts with a good cleaner (Deoxit, Kontak, etc) if you haven't already done so. Dirty contacts can cause the crackling issue as easily as a loose connection.
