Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Vandersteen Quatros on an unlevel carpeted floor.

I have a pair of original Vandersteen Quatros (cloth, not wood) set up in a fairly ideal location in my room, except that my floor and carpet pad are very uneven: the left speaker requires placing about 5 washers on one of the front cones to level it laterally, and right speaker is at least 1/4 inch lower than the other, even with washers also placed on its cones to raise it somewhat. With the front cones raised this way, I don't have enough thread on the rear spike to tilt the speakers enough, so I have to place some old plastic footers under the rear spike to get more height.

Getting the speakers as close to the same height as I can seems to improve the imaging greatly, but I think I can do better if I can get the speakers at the same height. I'm looking at these Soundocity outriggers for the purpose. Are there any other options I should look at?
