$1500 speakers

The KEF LS-50 was an obvious game changer for the price point,at least from what I read it is anyway . To those who have had a chance to hear some of the growing list of models from all the different manufactures, what stood out to you as being the most musical. Is the LS-50 THE benchmark, or just a different flavor in a group of excellent contenders. What about the MMG, can a affordable cone speaker match a planar ? I know it's all personal and subjective in the end.
