B&W 801... overkill?

As I enjoy my crazy but great sounding "shouldn't work but does" speaker combination, I am searching for a nice used pair of B&W 801 series speakers (not the crazy nautilus ones...just the big boxes)

I'll probably jump on the first pair I find regardless of them being originals, series 2 or 3... Here's my problem.

Until I get my home theater room back, they will live in my garage which is only 12 feet wide by about 22 feet long. Will it be like hitting a staple with a sledgehammer? Will they sound terrible because they don't have room to stretch?

They would need to be setup at the far end and would most likely no be more than 8 feet apart.
