We are so use to creating sound waves with mechanical devices. At some point in time, when we learn how to effect the molecules that make up air, we will be able to let the air develop its own sound waves given our input. If you think about it, but freq modulation and amplitude would be infinitely controllable to a point beyond our hearing capabilities and pain threshold. Further out in the future, we will have direct brain receptor connections which will eliminate the amp and speakers altogether. At that point, JBL and Klipsch will be known for their fine wooden packing crates. Cheers.
