Though it seems to me that what you did constitutes "fair use," so long as you didn't charge admission to hear the tapes or made copies for sale.What bothers me is the mindset that because the record companies are evil it's okay to steal from them and, by extension, the musicians who made the recording in the first place.
Most young people haven't gotten past the "music should be free, man" stage, so it's probably understandable. But grownups? Sheesh.
