Hey, Oyster, I’d highly recommend The Enid and Pär Lindh Project for you. The Enid is a British group that started their career in the late 70’s, and personally I consider “Aerie Faerie Nonsenseâ€, “Touch Me†and “Six Pieces†excellent starting albums. Superb orchestral rock. As for Pär Lindh Project, this is a recent Swedish group whose music is keyboard-based rock remaining ELP at times, but in it’s own, with lots of Baroque influences. “Mundus Incompertus†and “Gothic Impressions†are both great.Other symphonic rock releases that come to mind at the moment are: New Trolls “Concerto Grosso No. 1†(Italy, 197l), Il Rovescio Della Medaglia “Contaminazione†(Italy, 1973), Latte e Miele “Passio Secundum Mattheum†(Italy, 1972), Los Canarios “Ciclos†(Spain, 1974), just to name a few.
Hope this helps, and thanks also for your suggestion.
Demetrio.
