RE: I was raised on the single version, but . . .

Cool! There's something about that eleven-minute version that really does it for me. I first heard it in the mid-'70s, after having my cousin blare the single for my other cousins at family gatherings--talk about weed burning!--but after hearing the LP version, I was hooked. For me, these days, that's the only version that'll do.
