I thought I had all Clifford Brown's sadly short discography, even Dahoud, but a few years ago I saw this 4 album box set of all the EmArcy recordings.

I try not to listen to it daily, it's that good. Played it today after quite a long time on the shelf, with the 45 DHSET amp this time and the sonics achieved by Sterling Sound just bring this music to life.

When I first received it I played record 4 a lot because of Sonny Rollins on Tenor, "who the hell's Harold Land?", but I've grown to appreciate him in the same way as Cannonball Adderly or Hank Mobley or Clifford Brown himself: they all can do gorgeous and pure tone while giving up nothing to outrageous Bop technique.

Then there's Max Roach...
