Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

I knew you wouldn't be impressed!

Though what you call a "failing" I would call a common modern stylistic technique. I have Benny Goodman's Mozart Concerto and Quintet and Bartok's Contrasts. He plays very precisely, but for me it sometimes comes off as too respectful and cautious. Of course, he is very careful not to bring any of his jazz style into it, where lagging WAY behind the beat is routine.
There is no denying Goodman's spectacular technique, though. I like Jack Brymer in the Mozart too.
