Well, I've listened to this album twice on Tidal--on headphones with iPod and AudioQuest Dragonfly Red, and today on my main system through the Tidal app on my Squeezebox Touch. The reviewer you linked to was pretty much spot on, but I disagree about the Rhapsody in Blue. It was the highlight for me. The orchestra and soloist were having a ball digging in and showing their jazz chops! I've heard a lot of dull performances on CD, but this one far from that. Isn't it interesting that the reviewer commented on the risk of playing French music when so far from France, but nothing about the idiomatic playing of the American Gershwin? I might have to order the CD mainly because discs still sound better than streaming on my systems.
As I think I've mentioned it before, if you want a really off-the-wall version of Rhapsody in Blue, you can't go wrong with the Weissenberg/Ozawa/Berlin Philharmonic performance on EMI.
