Zubin Mehta told the Press that he auditioned Greta and found her good. Also Zubin is a Bombay guy and hence cricket crazy.
After the end of the highly successful Ashes tour of England by Australia in 1948 under the captaincy of Bradman, I wrote a letter to Bradman simply addressing him as the Cricket Captain, Australia. Two months later I got a letter from him with a smiling picture of his,signed over by him. I remember my whole school coming home to see the picture. I was a great hero. The picture was with me till late 1960s when it was lost during the many moves.
I remember listening to the running commentary of the last day of the Leeds test of 1948 when Bradman and Arthur Morris put up a great partnership to score 404 to win the test. We young boys had special permission to stay up late till 11 PM.
