Did I feel "spiritual" by the end? I don't know. I recall being moved by a few typically Wagnerian, luscious chord modulations here an there, (the first during the 2nd act, about 7 hours in).
Seriously, I didn't sense that anything was rushed or that any textures were "flattened" by excessive speed and drive (think Solti's Ring).
Do I really need to fight for Knapperstbusch's '62 Philips on Ebay?
