Used has popped up to $82. You can find the vinyl cheaper.
Listening to this now - recorded in 1975 (or at least released then) which made Bergonzi 51 at the time. Listening to it now, and while enjoyable can't help but wish that that it had been made about 10 years earlier. There is a bit of unsteadiness in some of the singing. Still recommended. Domingo did the same survey (and maybe added some - his set takes 4 CDs to Bergonzi's 3) - while I haven't heard it, I am certain, based on my exposure to other Verdi sung by Domingo, that my consistent preference would be for Bergonzi, except in the later operas.
Carreras, in his early years, was perfect for early and middle Verdi - too bad that he succumbed to the pressure to move to the heavier roles.
