music programs in public schools are now almost non-existent. They (along with dramatic arts) are the first casualties of a budget axe.
This ain't a political forum, but I think it's inarguable that exposure to classic instruments and repertoire during the formative years plays a major role. It certainly did for me.
You want more butts in symphony hall seats in the future? Help your local schools fund their music programs.
