Blomstedt's Gewandhaus recording of Bruckner's 6th has really grown on me, despite the inclusion of the applause at the end ( it makes me feel as though the product is unfinished). I ordered his recording of the 3rd as well, another lesser-known (to me) of Bruckner's symphonies. I will probably get to his 8th after that, rumored to be a superb performance (and my own favorite Bruckner symphony). I hope that Blomstedt lives to complete the series. I saw him perform Bruckner's 5th a few months back, and he was amazing. It would also be wonderful to have him make a few non-Bruckner recordings - he gave a performance of the Sibelius 2nd two seasons ago that was luminous, and he still has an awesome rapport with the San Franciso Symphony. Truly an underrated conductor.
