Home Jazz Alley

From Louis Armstrong to Charlie Parker to the new greats of today, this is the place for Jazz!

Very nice!

Such a distinctive sound he had. My wife and I watched Midnight Cowboy for the first time a few nights back. I didn't realize beforehand that he played on the soundtrack but he was unmistakable after just a few bars. Was lucky to see him live just once, at the venerable Detroit Jazz Fest in a duo with (the also late) Kenny Werner. This band here gets pretty sideways. I tried to guess the personnel and was shocked at how far off I was when I looked it up and found that's Fred Hersch on piano and Adam Nussbaum on drums. I had thought maybe I was hearing Don Pullen and Ed Blackwell. :-D

Thanks for posting!
