I have never been a fan. This circular breathing is novel, but is akin to the horn on the auto burglar alarm going off while Giant Steps is playing on a radio. Stunts like this are known as "getting house."
He is the "Yugo" of the American Art Form, i.e. his playing is functional, but he is no Ferrari.
Personally, I find this performer to be placed, but he never represented America's Art Form even in the "SMOOTH" genre. For him to be placed in the forum of this name an insult. Back when there were record stores, I would turn all his album/CDs around backward in the rack. He always had up front placement. The Three Stooges are comedians, but not in the same way as George Carlin or Dick Gregory.
I am surprised how much time I have spent trashing this "performer." .
