RE: And Now for Mats Gustaffson

I've heard Mats quite a few times in New Orleans with the Thing and other configurations . A friend once lent him his baritone sax for a gig-when he got it the keys were noticeably loser. I appreciate his energy and commitment. LIke many Northern European energy players, there is more pronouncement than "play" in his music. And at the risk of starting another philosophical argument here, I think that play is an essential aspect of the jazz aesthetic.
