Today's hip tunes. New music that isn't Classic Rock or Jazz!

Re: thanks. I'll definitely stay out from their new one!

You must admit that appreciating the beastie boys for their instrumentals is like appreciating Black Sabbath for Tony Iommi's acoustic guitar interludes (gorgeous 2-chord variations which appear on Sab's 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th albums amidst the hardest rock of the day--but no one listens to Sab for that!)

If those kinds of funky instrumentals appeal to you, check out early '70s stuff from the Crusaders, Meters, Eddie Harris, Les McCann, Blackbyrds etc. The bboys were listening to that and imitating what they heard to the best of their ability. The good thing about the bboys instrumentals was it broke up their other songs (but on previous albums, those were more varied anyway).

I wouldn't recommend their new one as the best work the bboys have done, but it has a good vibe to it.
