She had a hall booked earlier in the afternoon today for a play-through of the Beethoven Concerto, but her accompanist apparently had to bail on her. She called me yesterday to see if I'd be willing to play it through with her. Alas, the spirit was indeed willing, but the previous obligations were impossible to ignore: a rehearsal from 2:00 - 5:30 with 27 students of the same teacher, playing everything from Twinkle Twinkle to Mozart 3 and Lalo. Man, I was tempted to bail myself, especially since the SF Symphony violinist is the associate principal of the second violins. Too bad for me! I assume she found somebody else! :-(
