All those pianists have recorded parts of the Debussy output that are as good as it gets.
- Gieseking probably ahead in most of the works
- Michelangeli for the Preludes, Book 1 Vatican recording, and Images
- Francois for Images and other pieces
- Paul Jacobs is pretty astonishing and very individual in everything he recorded
- Richter in some of the Preludes and many other pieces
Honourable mention to Rosen in the Etudes.
Gieseking played a Bechstein, which sets him apart from most others. It's certainly a different sound.
