Yes, screen down in Final round, sometimes candidates play a week or 2 with the Orch, especially when more than one candidate is being considered.
Someone hired 10, 20, 30 nor 40 years ago will certainly have had a different audition experience
than new members.
Concertmaster is always by Invitation.
The Music Director chooses the Concertmaster, and can change to another one if they choose.
A new Conductor will certainly choose their own Concertmaster, leaving the previous one out.
What do you propose?
