RE: And you thought Gilbert's plots were inane?

Sorry if that came across as condescending or patronizing. That wasn't my intent; I agree that the plots come across as ridiculous to us in the so-called (ahem) modern world. And I still think that misses the point; I can't help wonder what those audiences would have thought of late 20th and 21st century operas or what future audiences will think of them in one or two hundred years... One man's meat, as they say.
