So you guys don't own smart phones? If you use an Android phone, you can get Sure Universal Remote.
I downloaded this app a couple of weeks ago and put my vintage Meitner preamp, Oppo disc player and Tascam CD burner from my main system on it. The Vizio TV, Sony Bluray player, Cisco cable box and Pioneer HT receiver for the den are on it as well now. On both systems I can control input selection, volume, balance and muting. On the TV I can even use it to select choices on Netflix. I use an LG phone and it works perfectly.
Modern technology can sometimes make your life simpler and less cluttered.
Oh yeah, it's free, so it's probably not good enough.
