If you can't find anything better than a Coltrane retrospective then
you need a new program director. Same applies for a Miles Davis
retrospective. These two have been done to death. How about a retro-
spective of: The Modern Jazz Quartet, or Stan Getz, or Tommy Flanagan,
or Dave Brubeck, or Johnny Hartmann, or any of the dozens and dozens
of other jazz giants who had or have far more talent?
Of course, there's always the possibility that what the audience actually
wants is yet another Coltrane pigout, which will prompt them to send
money. I suspect this is the case.
